Bijuland is a wholesale bead and craft materials supplier based in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. The Crimps and Stoppers category (стопери — stoperi) covers small metal and rubber findings used to secure wire and cord positions in jewellery construction — within the broader Metal Elements and Findings section. Wholesale and retail purchase available, with shipping across Bulgaria and Europe.
What are crimp beads and stoppers and how do they differ from crimp tubes?
Crimps and stoppers (стопери — stoperi) are small findings that grip or block a wire or cord at a specific position to prevent beads or other components from sliding. They serve the same securing function as crimp tubes but in different forms. Round crimp beads (кримп мъниста — krimp manista) are small spherical metal beads — rather than tubular — that are threaded onto beading wire and compressed with flat-nose or crimping pliers to grip the wire; they function identically to crimp tubes but their rounded form, when pressed, produces a more rounded crimped shape that some makers find more aesthetically acceptable alongside round beads. Rubber or silicone stopper beads (гумени стопери — gumeni stoperi) are soft elastic beads that grip the wire or cord through friction without deformation — they can be slid into position and will stay in place under normal tension, and can be removed and repositioned if needed, unlike a crimped metal finding which is permanent. Rubber stoppers are used on memory wire ends (where a metal loop or crimp is the standard finish but a rubber stopper is a quick alternative) and on elastic cord where a knot is normally used but a stopper bead can serve as a backup or reinforcement. End stopper beads — larger decorative stoppers — are used as the visible final bead at the end of a strand, sitting after the clasp-loop crimp to conceal the crimp work.
When should I use crimp beads vs crimp tubes?
Crimp beads and crimp tubes perform the same structural function — securing beading wire to a clasp loop — and the choice between them is primarily aesthetic and practical. Crimp tubes produce a flatter, more compact finished crimp and are preferred by most professional jewellers for their neat, low-profile result; a two-step crimping tool creates a rounded tube-crimp that is particularly tidy. Crimp beads — round when unpressed, irregular when pressed — are less tidy than tube crimps but are easier for beginners to work with as the round form is more forgiving of imprecise pressing. Both should be purchased in quantity as one is used at each end of every beading wire strand. For complete guidance on finishing beading wire strands, see the Metal Tubes (Crimp Tubes) section. Bijuland ships from Plovdiv, Bulgaria and supplies jewellery makers, craft studios, and bead resellers across Bulgaria and Europe.
